Brant / Brandt always makes me think of the character from The Goonies, Brand. I used to love that movie.
I prefer Brandt, personally. It seems more collected and complete. The '-dt' also makes it feel a bit German to me (like Arndt), which appeals.
Brant, on the other hands, strikes me as empty and more boyish (in a bad way), less likely to "grow up" with the bearer; it isn't as professional, or even as attractive. There is something smokey and ambitious in the name Brandt that Brant just does not share.
