I think it sounds masculine but I didn't mentally relate it to Moses when I read it, rather to forest and stream imagery and actual moss. Is it meant to be pronounced with a long 'o'? I like that imagery and, being accustomed to Ross, it sounds quite name-like to me, even if I'm pronouncing it wrong.
