Avra is sweet and simple and unique. I like it. Would you say AYV-ra or AVV-ra? I think I like AVV-ra better.
Ara is okay, but it does feel a little incomplete to me. It could easily be a nickname for something like Aria, Ariadne, Ariella, Ariana, Araceli, Araminta, or Arcadia if you're not a fan of Arabella.

Personally, I would say AVV-ra.
All the Avras I know (are Greek/Greek-American) say it AH-vrah.
