Betty is ok. I prefer the look of Bette, but would probably be mispronounced as "bet". James is awful!

I like Bette as well. The pronunciation is problematic as famous BETTEs include Bette Davis (pronounced Betty) and Bette Midler (pronounced Bet). I'm not actually sure which I prefer for that spelling.
