Nameberry is a baby name site, not an etymology site, and is not a credible source, and not all surnames make good given names. English as a given name is as silly as naming your kid Japanese or Australian or Danish or Scottish or Russian (some of which are also surnames, but that doesn’t mean they make good given names)

Also that was a bad lineup of examples because Dane & Scott are very much given names lol
