By the way, Tory, Tori etc is the nn and usual headline version of Conservative, as in the Conservative Party, currently in government. So in the UK I'd be amazed to meet a Victoria who was known as Tory. It's just not an option!

It's a little awkward/funny/noticeable in the US occasionally. Like studying Revolutionary War in school (Tories were anti-independence) or if you watch BBC or if you happen to know any British people who would think nothing of saying "I would never date a Tory"...though I'd still prefer it to Vicky (possibly partly because Vicky seems decidedly more British like Rupert or Alfie or something).
