I thik it's absolutely awful, one of the ugliest-sounding girls' names, and in fact the ugliest-sounding names period. Right up there with Seth for boys. Worse even than Harper or Emma.
I believe people got the idea it was sexy from the eighties movie "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" where Sloane was Ferris's glamorous girlfriend.

I didn’t even remember his girlfriend’s name. Interesting, I wonder if any parents credit that movie as the inspiration for naming their child Sloane.
