Usually for girls, apparently. The only one I knew was a black guy. It's also a not-that-rare last name, sometimes also spelled Ivery. I think the guy I knew might have been Ivery.
Also, in the US it's a soap.Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you criticize him, you're a mile away and you have his shoes!
