[Surname] Pritulak
I came across this surname a few days ago. My Ukraine brain assumed that it must be from the Polish version of the word притулок (prytulok), which means "shelter" in Ukrainian. After visiting a Ukrainian-Polish dictionary, I have found no such word, just przytułek, which is definitely not where Pritulak would come from. So, where does the last name Pritulak come from etymologically? My name submission

The surname Pritulak likely originates from “prytulok.” It could refer to someone associated with a shelter, a person who took refuge or was taken in, or even someone who worked in a shelter or lived under protection. While the Polish word for shelter is "przytułek," the surname appears to have a Ukrainian origin, with its meaning tied to the concept of care or protection, which could have evolved into a surname describing a person linked to such a place or state.

So the second usage I listed (Ukrainian Polonised) would be correct?

Probably yes. But one thing for sure is that it’s Ukrainian.
