Which isn't to say I don't like it. I think it's very pretty--it's simple but elegant, with a nice meaning. I myself would just feel completely inauthentic if I used it, just as I would if I used, say,
Ntombi or
Jaroslav. I have absolutely no connection to its roots or the culture it's from; it simply wouldn't work for me. But if it works for you? I think it's fantastic.
(And I should note that I'm not saying that you absolutely have to be Jewish to use
Chava; simply that you should have some sort of emotional connection to the name, which I don't.)
