This is going to sound bitchy, but I really don't care right now. Try to take it constructively...
1. Star Trek. 'Nough said.
Try Derek instead, since it's visually similar to Trek.
2. And why not name the kid's siblings Canadian, Czech, or French while you're at it? No, Turk is a nationality, not a name.
I can't think of any real names that are similar to Turk at the moment. (Yes, that includes Dakota, Cheyenne, and other Native American tribe names.)
You can't just take random words out a dictionary and use them as names imo.
