I mean,
June's a month name, which is technically a word name, which I suppose could be considered unisex. But on the other hand, the word is derived from
Juno, who was a
goddess, after all.
Also, while
June on a male could work in theory, I think it's generally seen as too feminine of a name, so I don't know if a guy could carry it, really. I think it could work in the MN spot, but as a FN? It might just be best to categorize it as a guilty pleasure of sorts.
(Although, I must say that I understand where you're coming from; while I love
June as a girls' name and think it's perfectly feminine, there is something about it that's delightfully "butch," for lack of a better word. It has a slight masculine air about it, but then again, that's part of why I like it as a girls' name. I
can picture a literary male named
June in my head, but
just a literary character, not a real person. I'm also seeing him as rather effeminate-- nothing wrong with that, but it certainly drives home the fact that it's a girls' name in my book!)
