Message: "Spear" - Behind the Name

I want to honor my husband's brother Gary who passed away. I've searched for similar names and then just for G names, but I haven't found anything that fits my style. So i was thinking about just using the meaning of Gary, which is Spear. What do you think? Is it too out there?
