That's okay, I wouldn't consider using it. And it does rather bug me that I can't find an official meaning for the name, makes it seem more like it's a made-up name. :(

Noo! Hahah I just saw this post now. I really think it's an elaboration of Ellie, similar to Annette from Anne. That would make it have history, rooted from the name Helen. I hope this makes you feel like it is more valid/less made up; it would for me haha.
It might just be the pronunciation that is making it seem related to Elliott, but I'm guessing they're not related (similar to Amelie and Emily).
