I know a few Gays/Gayes (a
Gaye that I work with is actually named
Gabrielle; she's in her late 40s...never asked her if she's had a problem with it). It would be a huge deal if someone named a baby
Gay, Gayleen or
Gaylord now, I'm sure. Gayleen is not my style either way, though. The only -leen name I really care for is
Kathleen. Not a big -leen fan, lol.
On the subject of
Gay as a name:
My sister told me of a friend of a friend of a friend (one of those stories) whose parents wanted to name her
Candy (my sister's name is
Candis nn
Candi) but didn't because their ln was Barr. So they named her
Gay. :-/
