[Opinions] Re: Chava

I immediately think of "Hava Nagila."
Which isn't to say I don't like it. I think it's very pretty--it's simple but elegant, with a nice meaning. I myself would just feel completely inauthentic if I used it, just as I would if I used, say, Ntombi or Jaroslav. I have absolutely no connection to its roots or the culture it's from; it simply wouldn't work for me. But if it works for you? I think it's fantastic.
(And I should note that I'm not saying that you absolutely have to be Jewish to use Chava; simply that you should have some sort of emotional connection to the name, which I don't.)

A revolution without dancing is a revolution not worth having.

Well, Chava is my favorite character in Fiddler on the Roof! I know it sounds Jewish, but I think it's rather pretty. Thanks for commenting!

That's a perfectly fair emotional connection, IMO. Whether it "sounds Jewish" doesn't matter to me; Colette "sounds French" and I know plenty of non-French girls by that name. ;)
