[Facts] Charater Names in the 1623 Folio (The Shakespeare Name Project)
As I promised one post ago I would soon post this list on the board hoping that you will take a (perhaps brief) look at it and see if you find any errors or names you notice I have missed and which of course then should be added.
I wish to give special thanks to Phyllis , who worked out a critique of the first drafts. After possible comments and objections have been made and such I will give the list a last correction and send it off to Mike C.

A couple of anagrams of William Shakespeare:
- I am a weakish speller
- Weak imperial hassle
- Alas! I'm weakish leper
- Hell! I am a weak pisser!
- A prime whale-like ass
- Real weakish slim ape
- Am a whale-like pisser
- A wipe ashames killer (Lady Macbeth's hands?)

An answer to Phyllis's critique
To Phyllis ,
I thank you very much for helping me with this project. I have below made a list of the corrections I have adopted from your suggestions and I have tried to answer to your questions as well as I could.
It seems however that the version I have used uses different spellings of some names compared to the version you have used. I have chosen to keep the spellings found in the book I used myself, but I will leave it to Mike C to pass the final judgement on this matter.
The Version I have used is:
Shakespeare, William . 1988. William Shakespeare The Complete Works
Oxford University Press.
"The Two Gentlemen of Verona"
Vicentio should be Vincentio (m, *Taming*)
"Taming of the Shrew"
I couldn't find Nathaniel , Philip , Joseph , Peter or Nicholas mentioned (but it might have been me research)
-These characters also hold very small parts. They are sewingmen and thus only appear in the sewing scene.
"Henry VI, Part II"
Cardinal Beaufort was Cardinal Henry Beaufort (m, *Henry VI*)
Old Lord Clifford was Thomas , Lord Clifford (m, *Henry VI*)
Young Clifford was John , Young Clifford (m, *Henry VI*)

First Section
I had to break it up in sections in order for the message board to handle the text mass:
Brief introduction to the 1623 Folio.
William Shakespeare was a writer and actor, who lived from 1564 to 1616. He was successful and admired in his own time. It was however first in the later part of the eighteenth century that he came to be looked upon as a universal genius who outshone all his fellows.
The Folio, which this list is based upon, was started on soon after Shakespeare's death in 1616. It was concluded 7 years later in 1623 and contained what is considered Shakespeare's collected plays. This means that neither Shakespeare's impressive poetry (e.g. Venus and Adonis , The Rape of Lucrece) nor his brilliant Sonnets were found in the 1623 Folio.
We have today knowledge of two lost plays ("Cardenio", "Love 's Labour's Won") and two other plays ("Pericles ", "The Two Noble Kinsmen"), which, along with the poetry and sonnets, were not included in the 1623 Folio. Perhaps because they were collaborative works. As this list is based on the 1623 Folio the names from the reconstructed play "Pericles " and the collaborative play "The Two Noble Kinsmen" are not included.
