Meaning & History

A feminine name of Aztec origin, Atlatonan is borne by the Aztec goddess of the Earth. In Mexica mythology, Atlatonan is one of the four wives of Tezcatlipoca—a revered god associated with many concepts, such as the night sky and jaguars. Atlatonin was also a mother goddess and a goddess of the coast.
