Cooksville was named after Jacob Cook, an American settler who established a stagecoach stop and inn in the early 19th century. The area was originally known as "Harrisville" but was renamed after Cook, who became a prominent figure in the community.In the 19th and early 20th centuries, Cooksville was a key transportation hub, as it was located at the intersection of Dundas Street and Hurontario Street, two major historic routes. It later became part of the growing city of Mississauga.Cooksville is a neighborhood in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.
