Meaning & History

The name of a city in the Buenos Aires province of Argentina, best known for its basilica.
There are several theories about the origin of the name itself, but it may have been taken from the Spanish surname Luján, which in turn comes from the name of the small town Luján (now Aluján) in the Spanish province of Huesca. The town's name is of uncertain origin but it may derive from Latin Lucius.
