Meaning & History

"martyr's hill" or "mount of the martyr" references Saint Denis who was killed on the hill in the 3rd c. CE. Previously, the hill was known as "Mount of Mars" by Romans.

In Paris, France: a district, a large hill, a cemetery, and an abbey.
In Saskatchewan, Canada: a village.
