Meaning & History
Combination of Swedish ör, an archaic word meaning "gravel", and Bro "bridge. Örebro is both a city and a county. The city is located in Närke just west of Lake Hjälmaren. Örebro County consists of Närke and about half of Västmanland (as well as small parts of other provinces).
