Meaning & History

From the old name of the Olsofjord fold and the Norwegian word vest. The name means, "the region west of the fold."

Vestfold is a fylke (county) in Norway.

On 1 January 2020, Vestfold will merge with Telemark to form Telemark og Vestfold fylke.
