I prefer it as a middle name because it sounds so much like a surname, but it would certainly be interesting to meet a Quatermain.

Paul Quatermain was the first combo that came to mind followed by Quatermain Beauregard and Beauregard Quatermain.

I'd name Quatermain's brother Beauregard or perhaps Taliesin. I could definitely imagine brothers named Quatermain and Beauregard.
