On first glance, it looks like a combination of
Hazel and
Ellen to me, so I would instinctively pronunce it hay-ZELL-in. I'd have a hard time remembering Hazelyn, I suspect.
While I like how it looks, and I
love weird old lady names (I go to the library and search through the census records to find the coolest names I can--I've got a big list! :), I don't think I'll warm up to it too quick.
Hazel's already a family name for me, and it unfortunately feels like an unnecessary elaboration.
And now I'm starting to think about Hazellen--oh,
Cambria, what are you doing to me?! ;D
