Using Celia to honor Alice would be a fabulous idea, imo. Not corny. :) I love both Celia and Cecilia, but I agree that "heaven" is a better meaning than "blind". :-/ I don't automatically think of 'cilia', and actually Celia lends to it less than Cecilia, at least spelling and sound-wise.
