[Opinions] Elliette (g)
A friend of my parents sent them a Christmas card and I was quite interested to see that their daughter is named Elliette. I've never seen the name before but think it looks lovely! My guess is that it would be pronounced similar to Elliott only with the "ette" sound at the end.WDYT? Is it too similar to Elliott?
Have you heard the name before?
What do you think of the sibset Joshua, Jacob and Elliette? What middle names would you pair with it? I rather like Elliette Ruby or Elliette Margot (I like the M name and the French sound).

I knew an Elliette! She was probably 12ish.. It was pronounced sort of like Elliott (that is what I thought her name was until I saw it written down) but I kind of like it. I can't remember what her middle name was, although I'm pretty sure I asked her...I think it's more of an elaboration of Ellie / Ellen than a feminine relation to Elliott (not sure if this was said). I think Joshua and Jacob are kind of plain with Elliette as a sister. Also, I actually have cousins named Joshua, Jacob, and Jerrica (a feminine variant of Jerry, I think).

Even then, not all names are that wonderful w/ an ette added to the end.

No, I just don't think that Elliot can really have a feminine offshoot. Elliot just sounds too masculine. Elliette sounds too twee and it sounds more like a "kree8tive" spelling than anything else, something hastily decided on because it looked and sounded nice rather than a name carefully picked for its significance.

It seems silly to me, too frilly and it sounds made up. With very common "normal" names like Joshua and Jacob, I think Elliette sticks out like a sore thumb. I didn't think of it being similar to Elliot, but I suppose it is. I much prefer Elliot over Elliette, although I'd only use Elliot for a boy.

An old classmate of mine recently named her daughter Elliott. I've never heard of Elliette, but it's a bit too precious and twee for me. And I suspect that they might just be pronouncing it as Elliott.

I think it looks like they were trying to hard to feminize a rather non-fem sounding name... not a fan. Haven't heard the name before and wouldn't really want to.
Joshua's overused, but nice. Jacob sounds good, but I don't like its meaning and wouldn't use it and I think Elliette sounds a bit tacky. Sorry.

I sort of like it. I think I'd prefer Elliotte though- closer to Elliott and has the same ending as Charlotte, etc. (I wouldn't like it pronouned like Elliott though-- it would have to be el-ee-OT. Maybe Elliette is more feasible for English speakers.)I'd probably thought about it before but this is the first time I've "seen" it on a real person.I don't like it with Joshua and Jacob-- it isn't a horrible sibset, but Elliette is very unusual and girly and quirky. Joshua and Jacob are more sporty and common.I like Elliette Ruby and Elliette Margot!
Also Elliette Rose, Elliette Catherine, Elliette Cateline, Elliette Ramona, Elliette Lily, Elliette Sabrina, Elliette Pascale, Elliette Poppy

Elliotte is quite interesting, it does look like Charlotte. I really like Elliette Rose, Elliette Catherine and Elliette Poppy!

Mispelling of Eliette?Eliette is an older French name, there is an actress Eliette Abécassis so it maybe its a misspelling or their own take on that name? Your pronunciation is right but you can listen to it here if you like http://www.forvo.com/word/eliette_ab%C3%A9cassis/#fr

Oh yes, probably it is a misspelling or variation of Eliette. I think I like the two Ls better though. It's pretty to hear the name said, it has more of an "eel" sound at the beginning so it's pronounced like eel-yeht. Not sure how my parent's friends pronounce their daughter's name but maybe it's not el-ee-et after all.

I was thinking it was too close to Elliott. I don't really like the look of it either. I like the sibset Joshua, Jacob and Elliot, but only if Elliott is a boy.

Joshua, Jacob and Elliott make a nice sibset! I do like Elliott for a boy much better than Elliette for a girl.

I don't mean to be rude, but I really hate this name -- I find it contrived and insubstantial. Also, I think it clashes with Joshua and Jacob.

That's okay, I wouldn't consider using it. And it does rather bug me that I can't find an official meaning for the name, makes it seem more like it's a made-up name. :(

Noo! Hahah I just saw this post now. I really think it's an elaboration of Ellie, similar to Annette from Anne. That would make it have history, rooted from the name Helen. I hope this makes you feel like it is more valid/less made up; it would for me haha.It might just be the pronunciation that is making it seem related to Elliott, but I'm guessing they're not related (similar to Amelie and Emily).

Ellie's not necessarily from Helen... could be from Elizabeth... which is a much preferable root in many ways.

If it's a variation of Elliott wouldn't it just have the same meaning as Elliott?

I've never heard it before. Weird, I would've thought I'd hate it, but it's not bad at all. I'd pronounce it with the emphasis like Juliette. And Ellie is a cute possible nickname.

Me tooI've heard of girls name Elliot before and rather disliked it but Elliette looks so pretty and similar to Juliette, Jeanette and other -ette names.
I love Ellie as a nickname, very cute!

I really dislike it when people name their daughters Elliott, but I can live with Elliette when it's pronounced ell-ee-ET. I actually find it pretty. ELL-ee-et sounds too much like Elliott, though.I like Elliette Ruby and Elliette Margot, particularly the latter.

I know......I don't really like Elliott for a girl either, I've heard it used on a girl once or twice and didn't really like it. But I do like Elliott for a boy. The -ette sound does give it a prettier sound.
