I've met many lovely people named
Crystal. I don't think it's very "tarnished" by the term for meth.
I think it's no less likely to come back into fashion someday, than
Heather or
Amber is.
I think many trendy object-names get associated with a relatively lower-status demographic, and take on a "cheap" vibe.
Crystal is a lot like
Ruby and
Opal and
Pearl, in my view. It's just that those others were popular long enough in the past, that people today don't any longer associate them as trendy "cheap" bling names. I'm 50 something and I get a slightly cheap vibe off them still, the way I do with
Crystal,
Brandy,
Sherry,
Amber. But I don't think that makes them bad.
