Derived from the former name Latinia, itself adopted in 1944 to replace the name Littoria, which had been chosen by the Fascist government upon the inauguration of the city in 1932. The name Latina was chosen in 1945 as a nod to its geographical position (the city is located in the region of Lazio), and also to keep its provincial abbreviation (LT) intact.This is the name of a city in south-central Italy.
